NSAA Origins
In 2023, a group of school attorneys set out to build something different: a professional association created by and for school attorneys, independent from a larger umbrella organization and focused squarely on the day-to-day realities of advising public schools. That effort became the National School Attorneys Association (NSAA).
From the beginning, NSAA’s focus has been practical and collegial. We aim to provide useful resources, real opportunities for engagement, and high-quality continuing legal education that help school attorneys represent their clients with confidence. Just as important, we wanted a space where colleagues can connect, share insight, and work through the challenges facing schools together.
Today, NSAA includes nearly 1,000 members across the country. Throughout the year, members take part in monthly webinars and discussion sessions, focused on pressing issues in school law, at no cost. We continually expand opportunities for deeper engagement through subject matter groups, which now include a Civil Rights Forum Section 504/IDEA Working Group, State Association Counsel, and In House Counsel. Members regularly exchange ideas, seeking advice, and participating in CLE programs.
NSAA is also active in national advocacy on legal issues affecting K-12 public schools. We filed amicus briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and Courts of Appeals, and public comments on federal regulatory activity.
