Who We Are

Georgetown is a historic neighborhood and commercial district of Washington, D.C.

We are a community of attorneys advocating for public schools.

NSAA is a nationwide community of attorneys who serve K-12 public schools. Independent, non-partisan, and self-governed, NSAA brings together school attorneys from across the country, including in-house district counsel, attorneys for state school boards associations, and private practitioners who represent public schools. Together, we advance the practice of school law and support one another in serving students and school communities.

Join NSAA

We support school attorneys.

NSAA is built around the idea that school attorneys are stronger together. We intentionally foster a trusted community where members can seek insight on a puzzling legal issue, discuss the practical implications of a new Supreme Court decision, or exchange sample policies, pleadings, and real-world solutions. What unites our members is a shared understanding that public schools exist to nurture students and support communities. That perspective shapes the advice school attorneys give and the collaborative spirit that defines the NSAA community.

Member Benefits

We advocate for public schools.

NSAA’s advocacy reflects the collective voice of school attorneys serving public school systems across the country. Our members do not advance a political or social agenda. They advise school districts governed by leaders with viewpoints across the political spectrum, united by a shared responsibility to serve students and communities. When NSAA files amicus briefs or comments to federal agencies, we bring a uniquely practical perspective shaped by attorneys confronting complex legal questions in real schools every day. That broad, non-partisan approach gives meaningful weight to the concerns and solutions we voice on behalf of public education.
